The York String Quartet is a highly professional, experienced quartet which specialises in providing elegant string music of the highest quality for weddings, civil partnerships, parties and corporate functions throughout Yorkshire and the North East.

The players are all professional musicians who are established chamber music and orchestral players. All have spent many years playing within the UK and abroad with the top British orchestras, such as The Philharmonia, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, The Halle and English National Opera. Currently all members of The York String Quartet are playing and teaching in the York, Leeds and Manchester areas. On occasion, when individual members of the quartet are committed elsewhere, other players of equal quality and experience may occasionally stand in.

Since our inception we have played for weddings and functions in a wide variety of venues throughout York and Yorkshire, including Hazlewood Castle Hotel, Aldwark Manor Hotel, Goldsborough Hall, Wood Hall Hotel, York Minster, Merchant Adventurers' Hall, the Old Parsonage Hotel and the Hospitium, plus dozens of others, as well as in churches and private homes.

We have a huge and ever-increasing repertoire of music and always aim to play a mixture of all types of music in order to cater for a wide range of tastes and ages. However we also of course respond to requests for a particular style or type of music.
